The Tyger

The Tyger is an intriguing poem. Blake is questioning creation. He questions about where he was created, how he was made, and what the creator thought of his creation. He also wants to know who the creator is. He asks the question "What immortal hand or eye, Dare frame they fearful symmetry?" He wants to know who dares to create him. Doubt is something everyone struggles with at some point in their life. Though luckily we know there is one true God and that he has a plan for us.

P.S I commented on Henry Tolbert's post.

  1. Considering the dichotomous natures of the tyger and the lamb, I think the poem is raising the question, how could the same Maker that created the innocent lamb create you?

  2. I want to bounce off both you, Hannah, and Jeremy. First off, Jeremy, were we not first created just as innocent but when we chose disobedience that innocence shattered? Hannah, when Blake questions who would make him, do you believe he is questioning why someone would create such a flawed, sinful creature? Or is he just simply wondering the purpose behind all creation? Those are two very different types of doubt and stem from different types of thought. The first question would stem from self-loathing or frustration. The second question would stem from either a thoughtful discussion or thoughtful observations. I just think it's interesting how one question can have such different sides.
